Lead Drinking Water Concentrations

York Institute is required every two years to do water testing. Ensafe, on behalf of Alvin C. York Institute, collected 64 drinking water samples from fixtures at the Institute on MArch 24 and 25, 2021. These samples were analyzed for lead concentrations using U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Method 200.8. Pursuant to the enacted law T.C.A. 49-2-133, this letter serves as a notification that laboratory analyses reported lead concentrations greater than 20 parts per billion (ppb) in 3 water fountains and 2 sinks. Upon notifications of the results, the futures were immediately removed from service and will remain out of service until corrective actions and retesting confirm lead concentrations are less than 20 ppb. These fixtures will remain out of service and have agitators and filters replaced, and be retested within 90 days.
